SINGLE LINE SQUARE SERIES

The word "minimal" is used in reference to any stylistic austerity. When refering to works of art the term "minimalism" is only slightly more precise.

Minimalist works are deeply rooted in the exploitation of a basic concept - simplicity having a powerful influence on the complex. By extreme reduction, minimalism attempts to use the greatest economy to express a complex thought or series of thoughts.

The Single Line Square Series uses the economy of the gray scale color range to examine - through layering - the relationship of one color to another. Moving from white, where all color is reflected, to black, where all color is absorbed, the series explores these color interactions.
